There is a mindset that many in SCUBA have that the more elaborate the equipment, the better it is for deep/exploration/technical diving. Nothing is further from the truth. The configuration that has fast won the respect of the divers on the cutting edge is the Hogarthian/DIR configuration. Born in the WKPP project, and named after the diver who came up with the concept Bill Hogarth Main, this configuration is the last word in efficiency, ruggedness and simplicity.
Consisting of a simple harness made from 2" webbing (no failure points) a SS back plate (holds single and double tanks securely), a non bungee wing (will hold air better if damaged) nothing else even comes close to the efficiency of this unit. No dangles invading your slipstream, and no entanglement hazards. The streamlined nature of this system will manifest itself in better SAC rates, and the use of less energy to propel yourself through the water.
